Guido Sodo | Ammuìna | Canti Cantori e Cantatrici
Guido Sodo guitars oud percussion, Gaia D’Elia voice, Mirco Mungari percussion
For a musician, performing certain repertoires inevitably means getting bogged down, metaphorically, in border lagoons. It’s a joyful mire, of course, when you realize that a melody, a color, a rhythm are perfectly reflected elsewhere in imaginary geographies. With inconsistent yet tenacious “maps” replete with stopovers and start overs, you’ll experience a continuous packing and unpacking of the mind during this musical journey. This album is our portolano, a pilot’s guide and crumpled nautical chart, on which we have notated the routes of our artistic “wanderings”. As the small rebellious crew on a ramshackled vessel of the Bourbon navy, we went in search of the cultural, linguistic, musical bridges that unexpectedly unite distant shores. From the Gulf of Naples to the Brazilian coast, from the Calabrian Ionian Sea to Shatt-el-Arab, from one side of the Adriatic to the other, from the restless Vesuvius to the troubled Balkans, we let the words and sounds organically unite on a journey that has just begun.
AMMUÌNA was formed in 2020 with the goal of the recording project, Canti, cantori e cantatrici, produced by the Medinsud Cultural Association in 2021. It has been performed in several theatrical and musical exhibitions including Le vie del Melograno at the Masseria Lu Mbroia in Corigliano d’Otranto (LE); Le Cose della Vita – concerts held in cemeteries for the Municipality of Sasso Marconi; Parco Spettacolare and Cabaret di Fiume in the summer season of the Teatro delle Temperie in the province of Bologna; Reteteatri Festival, project by Regione Emilia Romagna, in Bologna and Imola; Destate l’Arte in Bologna.
In collaboration with the Ghirù, Popolo d’Ambria, Municipality of Piateda.
For this occasion, in Ambria, you can also enjoy an excellent meal of polenta with sausage.
Again, this season, we have the opportunity to learn about “Lingua in Ambria”. Luigi Zani, a great enthusiast and scholar of the Valdambrina dialect, will share his knowledge in a linguistic performance that always brightens the musical events of the Festival AmbriaJazz.

In this workshop, “Sound Games from Nature” children search for rhythmic and melodic sounds found in nature. Using natural objects is a basis for the creation of musical instruments. The goal is not necessarily to imitate the sounds of nature but to search for their essence, the search for intrinsic quality.
