“The accordion from classical to tango”
is the musical journey that Ugo Viola offers us in this concert lesson. The event takes place on the occasion of the festival that AMMI aps organizes for San Giovanni.
“Since childhood and adolescence, I have been performing pieces that enhance the peculiarities of my instrument: the accordion, starting from J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue to the classical accordion repertoire, from the French Valzer Musette to Astor Piazzolla’s Tango.”
Ugo Viola is a musician, artistic director, and teacher with extensive experience. From a young age, Ugo embarked on his musical journey with the chromatic accordion, graduating under the guidance of maestro Ezio Saravalli. His career has been distinguished by numerous successes in international accordion competitions, including the First Prize at the 10th International Young Accordionists Festival in Recanati (1973) and the International Accordion Trophy City of Veroli (1983).
In addition to his career as a musician, he has played a fundamental role in the educational field, with teaching experiences in schools and musical institutions, as well as serving as director of numerous musical associations. Since 1998, he has also been the founder and artistic director of the Moncalieri Jazz Festival, an event that has gained international recognition, collaborating with prestigious entities such as Radio Rai 1 and Radio Scrigno.
His concert career has seen him perform in numerous high-level contexts, including collaborations with world-renowned artists such as Luciano Pavarotti and Ricky Martin, as well as performances with the National Symphony Orchestra of Rai and participation in projects like Pavarotti & Friends. He has also recorded soundtracks for cinema and television, including those for films by Marco Bellocchio and director Antonello Grimaldi, and has played for highly successful television dramas.

ATTENTION: You can reach San Giovanni by car, but parking will be along the narrow road. We encourage carpooling: it is possible to use the Montagna cemetery parking lot as a car-sharing point.
In case of rain, a cover will be set up for the concert and Germogli Sonori.

What could be a more beautiful way to admire the Valtellina landscape than walking en route to an AmbriaJazz Festival Concert?
This time the #jazzcamminante inaugurates the new circular route Davaglione – Castello di Mancapane – Ca “Zoia – Davaglione, crossing five mills and a tower. The” circular route is connected to the locality of San Giovanni. The itinerary includes a guided tour of the Castello di Mancapane
The departure will be from the parking lot on the Davaglione bridge below the “Capel del Diaul” Pyramid, at 5:30 PM
Bring a hat, water bottle, hiking boots, and walking poles. The route is half downhill and half uphill through the woods, with an elevation change of about 100 meters; the available fountain is in San Giovanni where we will stop for the concert before returning to the parking lot.

Germogli Sonori - Children's Workshop
Music and play workshops for children from 6 to 13 years old
with musician Ugo Viola
“Germogli Sonori” is a musical education project aimed at school-aged children, where activities are conducted through play and imagination; it takes place in the heart of nature in the beautiful Valtellina alpine landscape, on high-altitude meadows and in parks.
It’s a “journey” that begins from Nature and is accessible to all. The objective gives each child the opportunity to develop the motivation to produce sound and, perhaps, even develop a passion for an instrument.
A child who plays any type of instrument is never alone; music will always keep them company and help them overcome the difficult moments that Life will inevitably present.
“Germogli Sonori” is also about contact with musicians, listening, comparing, getting to know many different instruments, and, hopefully, identifying the one they like the most.
